Setup a go-daddy.com™ "Windows™" Server Package to Work With EcommPro6

  1. Backup Your Web Site

  2. Make sure that your go-daddy account is Windows based account and not a Unix or Linux account.

    • If it is a Unix or Linux account simply email your go-daddy support and ask them to move your account to a Windows package. They will do it.

  3. First you must update your EcommPro shopping cart to work with go-daddy or any other server that requires the database folder to be inside of the wwwroot.

  4. We have included a .bat (Batch) file that will update the cart system files for use with godaddy.

    • Simply double click the file C:\Ecomm\EcommProV6\godaddy updates\create-godaddy.bat

    • Then jump to step #10 below. Or to copy the files manually continue to step 4. (just use the batch file)

  5. Open the folder "C:\Ecomm\EcommProV65\godaddy updates"

  6. Copy the objConn_open.inc AND the scart folder and paste them in the C:\Ecomm\EcomProV6\wwwroot\ folder.

  7. When asked to overwrite existing files choose Yes to All.

  8. Open the wwwroot folder, right click inside it and select New then Folder. Name the folder access_db

  9. Copy the database ecommpro65.mdb from the db folder and paste it also into the wwwroot\access_db folder.

  10. Okay, now your cart is updated and all necessary files are inside the C:\Ecomm\EcomProV65\wwwroot\ folder.

  11. Login to your go-daddy account.

  12. Under "Hosting and Servers" click "My Hosting Account".

  13. Under Control Panel Click Open for the domain that you're adding the cart too. (you may only have one)

  14. Scroll down to Databases. Click Access.

  15. Click Enable Access Support (this will create a folder access_db in your root web)

  16. Now you are ready to upload the shopping cart files.

  17. There are two methods to choose from for uploading

    1. FTP (go to step 18)

    2. FrontPage (go to step 22)

  18. Upload your Site With FTP - See go-daddy help for FTP.

  19. With the go-daddy FTP Client you will see two sides. The left is your hard drive, the right is your web site.

  20. On the left side navigate to your C:\Ecomm\EcomProV6\wwwroot

  21. Copy all files in C:\Ecomm\EcommProV65\wwwroot\ into your web site on the right, including the access_db and the scart folders and all files and sub folders that they contain.

    • Do not copy the wwwroot folder - Only the files and folders inside it.

  22. Upload Your Site using Microsoft FrontPage

  23. If you are using Microsoft FrontPage to manage your web site you should already have a FrontPage Web on your hard drive. (on your computer somewhere) If you do not yet have one created see FrontPage help for creating a web.

    • (or just open FrontPage and go to File>New>Empty Web)

  24. Copy the files that are inside the C:\Ecomm\EcommPro65\wwwroot into your FrontPage web.

    • Do not copy the wwwroot - Only the files and folders inside it.

    • Open the wwwroot folder and Select All (Ctrl+A) then right click and Copy.

    • Go to your FrontPage web, open it, right click in it and click Paste.

    • All shopping cart files are copied to your FrontPage Web.

  25. Now Publish your FrontPage Web. (create web folder shortcut for Publishing)

Setup is now complete!

See your store at www.your-domain.com/scart/shop.asp

Login to your cart control panel at www.your-domain.com/scart/cartcp/login.asp

UserName: UserName

Password: password

(Replace your-domain.com with your own domain name. You probably wouldn't believe me but some people have actually said "I cant get my domain at www.your-domain.com")

Note - If you are using the wwwroot/default.asp page as your Home Page, you must delete or re-name the page welcome.htm that is in your godaddy root folder so that when you access the site by www.your-domain.com the eCommPro default.asp page is displayed. (rename it to any other name i.e. welcome_tmp.htm)

Troubleshooting:

  1. Make sure that Access Databases are enabled on godaddy.

  2. Make sure the database ecommpro65.mdb has been uploaded to the access_db folder on your web server.

  3. Make sure that you have applied the godaddy updates included with your cart BEFORE you uploaded or Published your web. (see step one)

See the Help Files in the cart control panel for instructions on creating categories, adding items and setting up your PayPal or Authorize.Net payment gateway.

Good Luck with your eCommerce.
