Ecomm Professional - Option Sets Setup

Help Center Home

Option Sets Overview:

Options sets are drop down Select boxes. e.g. Size: .

You can have up to 3 of these Select boxes (option sets) per product/item.

Option Sets are optional :) You DO NOT HAVE TO USE THEM IF YOUR ITEM HAS NO OPTIONS.

You create the option sets using an easy-to-use form in control panel. You don't use html.

Option Sets are stored in your database and pulled from there whenever a product, that has the options applied to it, is displayed on a page.

Each option set can contain up to 12 options (or less).

For any of the 12 options you can either add or subtract an amount

e.g. XXXLarge (Add $5.00).

Once an Option Set has been created it can be used or applied to - any number of Items/Products as long as that item has those exact options. This will greatly reduce the time it takes to setup products.

  • e.g. You are selling 10 different T-Shirts. They are ALL AVAILABLE IN THE SAME SIZES. Create one (1) Option Set and APPLY IT TO ALL 10 T-Shirts.

Setup Option Sets:

  1. Login to your Database Control Panel - http://www.yourdomain.com/scart/admin/login.asp

  2. Click the Option Sets button.

  3. Enter a Name for your Option Set

    • The name you enter WILL be displayed on your shopping cart pages.

    • If the Option Set will contain Sizes, name it Size. See the Example above. The word Size, preceding the Select box, is it's name. This is how it will be displayed on your shopping cart pages.

    • Any number of option sets can be named Size. e.g. You may have more than one set of Sizes (women's sizes, men's sizes, unisex sizes)

  4. Enter a Description. The description is for YOUR USE only. The customer will NOT see the description. You should give the set a descriptive name so that when you apply it to a product you will know exactly which set to use. e.g. Men's Sizes XS through XXXL.

  5. Next you have Options 1 through 12. This where you enter the options. e.g. Option 1: XSmall Option 2: Small and so on.

  6. If any of your options requires that you charge more OR less for that item simply choose Add Or Subtract from the center Select Box, and then type in the difference in price.

    • e.g. Add 5.00 (DO NOT use a dollar sign $)

  7. When all options are entered click Create Option Set.

  8. You now have an Option Set that can be applied to any product in the future.

*Note - See the Add Products help page for instructions on how to apply an option set to an Item/Product.

Editing And Deleting Option Sets:

  1. Once an option set has been created it will be listed on the left side of the Option Sets page.

  2. From there you can click the Edit button to Edit the set.

    • Beware that if you edit an option set it WILL CHANGE THE OPTIONS FOR ALL PRODUCTS CURRENTLY USING THE SET. You can view a list of Items that are using the set from the edit page.

  3. Once on the Edit Page you can also Delete an Option Set.

    • YOU CANNOT DELETE A SET IF IT IS BEING USED BY AN ITEM/PRODUCT.

    • You must remove it from those items first then you will be able to delete it.

Helpful Hints:

  1. DO NOT use any special characters in your Option Sets. Use only letters and/or numbers.

  2. If you have Any Items using an option set and then you add other products that have SIMILAR options, DO NOT EDIT the one you're already using. Create a new set with the EXACT Options that you need for that particular item. Remember that if you edit an option set it will apply to all items currently using that set.
