Setting
your Handling and Shipping Prices:
In
the past our customer's had issues with Ecommpro's flat rate shipping. There was
no handling fee only a shipping fee. That was fine when a customer wanted just
one or two items. However, everyone ran into trouble if someone ordered many
items. The shipping became way too high. e.g. You set shipping on an item lets
say a T-Shirt at $8.00. Okay, that's a reasonable price for shipping across the
USA for a T-Shirt. But suppose you want 5 T-Shirts then shipping would come to
5X$8.00=$40.00.
That's
not okay.
The
actual cost would be only about $12.00 to $15.00. And it gets worse with the
more T-Shirts you'd order.
You
can see the issue.
Okay
so how did we fix it? Simple. We added Handling. How does it work? Like this:
Using
the T-Shirt scenario above you'd set a Handling price of say $7.00 and a
Shipping Price of maybe $1.00.
The
math works like this: For each item the Handling Price is applied only once but
the Shipping is multiplied by the Quantity.
So
with the T-Shirt scenario if you purchased
only one T-Shirt the Total Shipping would be $7.00 + $1.00 = $8.00.
If
you purchase 5 T-Shirts the Total Shipping would be 5 X $1.00 = $5.00(Shipping)
Plus $7.00(Handling) 5+7= $12.00.
That's
five t-shirts multiplied times one dollar plus seven dollars handling.
If
that doesn't work for you you can set the shipping at $1.50 or so.
Using
this method you can establish accurate shipping prices.
