The PayPal Secure Payment System

We have integrated the Secure PayPal Payment System into Ecomm Professional V6.5. By using PayPal you save... big time. There's no need for a merchant account. You only need a bank account. There's also no need  for a security certificate because the credit card information is only entered on a secure PayPal page. They provide the certificate.

Savings by using PayPal:

  1. $150.00 - $180.00/year for a SSL Certificate.
  2. $45.00 - $55.00/month for a merchant account.($540.00 - $660.00/year )

Open a Free PayPal business account today, then enter your info in the Company Info page of Ecomm Professional and you are accepting credit card payments in minutes.

The PayPal limited shopping cart is not used. EcommPro is used up until check out. All of the EcommPro features are retained. You will still have the customer accounts, orders, email list, products and so forth in the EcommPro database on your server.

*Note - With EcommProV6.5 there are 2 options for processing credit cards.

  1. PayPal's Secure Check Out (seamlessly integrated).

  2. A merchant account with the Authorize.Net gateway.

How PayPal works with EcommProV6.5
  • Open a bank account at a bank if you don't have one.

  • Go to PayPal and open a business account.

  • A customer places items in their cart and clicks Check Out.

  • If they have an account with you they can login.

  • Otherwise they click Create New Account. This account is kept in your database.

  • Now they verify their info and enter alternate shipping if any.

  • One more step and they go to PayPal.

  • At that point they have two choices.

    1. If they have a PayPal Account they simply login.

    2. Or they click "This is the first time using PayPal".

  • At that point they are taken to a page that asks for their name, address and credit card info. However, the form is pre-populated. It will already have their name and address because EcomProV6.5 passes this info to that page.

  • All they really do there is enter their credit card information.

  • PayPal verifies the card and if successful will re-direct the user back to your thanks.asp page with a string that contains the info need to process the order on your end and send the emails to you and your customer.

  • The money sits in your PayPal account a couple of days until it clears then you login to PayPal and transfer the money to your bank account.

  • This is now the system that Ecommerce-Carts.com is using.

  • PayPal charges $0.30 plus 2.9% of total charge - per transaction (as of 12/5/2004 see PayPal's "Terms Of Service" for updated pricing). But so does your merchant account provider. With PayPal that's only if you make a sale. With PayPal, if you're slow getting started at least you're saving the monthly merchant account fees.
